Weight Loss Breakfast Recipe | Oats Kozhukattai

Weight loss breakfast...spicy oats kozhukattai

 This Oats recipe is rich in protein and fiber and keeps you fuller for a long time. This is a simple and wholesome recipe for weight watchers and diabetics. This recipe is suitable for kids as well as adults. Oats is easily available in all shops and online stores now.
 
Ingredients

Oats - 1 cup
Rava( semolina) - 2 tbsp
Moong dal - 1 1/2 tbsp
Onion - 1
Carrot - 1 small
Green chili - 1
Curry leaves - few
Oil - 1 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste

Method

For this recipe first, boil 1 1/2 cup of water. 


Chop the onion, green chili & curry leaves. Grate the carrot.


Dry roast 1 1/2  tbsp of moong dal. Once the dal gets roasted, add a cup of oats and 2 tbsp of rava/semolina. Roast for two minutes. Transfer to a plate and keep aside.


In the same pan, add 1 1/2 tsp of oil and season with urad dal, mustard seeds & asafoetida. Once the mustard splutters add onion, green chilies and curry leaves. 


Once the onions become translucent add the roasted rava mixture, grated carrot & salt. Mix well.


Add grated carrot and enough salt.


Add the boiled water little by little to this mixture and make a thick dough. Cover & rest for five minutes.

Make kozhukattais from the prepared dough. For this quantity, we can make 8 to 9 kozhukattais.


In the meantime, boil 2 cups of water in a steamer or idli cooker. 

Place the Kozhukattais into the idli cooker and steam for 8 to 10 minutes on medium flame.

Bread Omelette Recipe | Easy Breakfast Recipe

Simple and tasty breakfast recipe, which we can prepare in 5 minutes. This is the best breakfast recipe for kids as well as adults. 


Bread Omelette with tea

Ingredients 

Egg - 1 

Bread slices - 2

Chopped onion - 2 tbsp 

Green chilli - 1 

Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp 

Oil -2 tsp 

Salt to taste

Method 

Beat the egg with onion, green chilli, pepper powder, and salt.

Heat a tawa on medium-low heat and add 2 teaspoons of oil.

Pour the egg mixture and cook for a minute.


Place a bread slice on the egg omelette.

Cook for 30 seconds. Flip the omelette and cook the bread till golden brown. Keep the flame low to medium-low.



Once it's done remove it from the pan.

Toast one more bread slice on the tawa till golden brown with little oil or butter. 

Homemade bread omelette


Place it on the omelette and serve.

Delicious breakfast is ready. Serve with a cup of coffee or tea.

Ragi Kali Recipe | Ragi Health Benefits

Ragi / Finger millet is gluten-free and rich in calcium, iron, and fiber. Fiber-rich foods make us feel fuller for a long time because they will get digested slowly. This will help with weight loss. Calcium helps us to get strong bones and teeth and iron help to get rid of anemia.

We can prepare this simple ragi dish in 10 minutes. We can take this kali as breakfast or lunch. You can also try this instant Spicy Oats pancake for breakfast.



Ingredients

Ragi flour - 1/4 cup 

Shallots - 5 or 6 

green chilli - 1 

Curry leaves - few 

Sesame oil - 3 teaspoons 

Water - 3/4 cup

& Salt to taste 


Method

Chop the shallots, green chili & curry leaves. Instead of shallots, you can use 3 tbsp of chopped onion.

Add the ragi flour to a bowl and add 3/4 cup of water. Mix well without any lumps.

In a heavy-bottomed pan, add a tsp of oil and pour the flour mixture. 



Add salt.

Add chopped onion, green chili & curry leaves.




The batter will get thicker in 1 or 2 minutes. Cook for 2 more minutes mixing continuously. 

After 2 minutes, reduce the flame fully and add 1 or 2 spoons of oil.


Mix well and cover the pan with a lid. Cook for 5 minutes in low flame.



The kali will be cooked soft and it will not stick to your fingers.

Serve with raw onions, green chilies, or any curries.

Pesarattu Recipe | Green gram Dosa Recipe | Pachai Payaru Adai

Healthy and tasty traditional pesarattu / moong dal dosa recipe for breakfast.


Ingredients 

Green gram - 1 cup 

Boiled Rice - 1/2 cup 

Green chilies - 3 

Ginger 1 inch 

Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp

Grated coconut - 2 tbsp (optional)

Salt to taste 


Method 

Soak the green gram and rice together for at least 4 hours. 

Grind the rice and gram together with green chilies, ginger, cumin seeds, and salt. The batter should be thick like idli batter.


Add grated coconut and mix well.


Grease the tawa and make thick or thin dosas. Sprinkle 1/2 tsp sesame oil/ghee. You can add some sliced onions on top.




Serve hot with any chutney or with jaggery powder.

A very healthy breakfast recipe is ready!

Oats Pancake | Spicy Oats Adai | Weight Loss Breakfast Recipe

 

Healthy, instant pancake recipe with fiber-rich oats.10 Minute spicy oatmeal pancake with a lot of vegetables. This quantity is enough for 2 people.

Ingredients:-

Oats - 5 tbsp
Wheat flour - 2 tbsp
Besan/gram flour - 1 1/2 tbsp
Potato - 1 small 
Carrot - a small piece 
Shallots - 2 to 3 
Green chili - 1 
Curry leaves - few
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1 pinch 
Chili powder - 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida/Hing - 1/4 tsp
Salt to taste 

Method

Chop shallots and green chili into small pieces.

Grate the carrot and potato.

Add oats and flours together.

Add water and prepare a thick batter.

Rest for 5 minutes.

Add shallots, green chilies, curry leaves, and grated carrot and potato. 

Add cumin seeds, turmeric powder, chili powder, salt, and asafoetida and mix well. 
adjust the consistency by adding enough water. The batter should be thick.

Pour a ladleful of batter and spread evenly.

Sprinkle half teaspoon oil.

Flip and cook both sides till golden. 

Healthy 10-minute oats breakfast is ready!

Oats Paniyaram | Sweet Paniyaram Recipe

Healthy and tasty oats paniyaram recipe. This sweet paniyaram is a perfect evening snack for kids as well as adults.


Ingredients
 
Oats - 1/2 cup 
Wheat flour - 1/4 cup 
Rice flour - 1/2 tbsp
Sugar - 5 tbsp
Diced almonds - 2 tbsp
Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp
Baking soda - 1/4 tsp
salt - 1 pinch 

Method 

Mix oats with wheat flour and rice flour.

Add a pinch of salt and water to make a thick batter and rest for 30 minutes.
 

 After 30 minutes, add sugar, baking soda, cardamom powder, almonds, and mix well. 

In a paniyaram pan, add half tsp ghee or oil in each hole, and fill each hole up to 3/4th with batter.
Cook both sides till golden in medium flame. 


Adding ghee will enhance the taste of the paniyaram.

If you don't have a paniyaram pan you can fry the paniyaram directly in oil.

Delicious oats paniyaram is ready!

Yellow Pumpkin Adai | Poosanikai Adai Recipe

Yellow pumpkin adai is a spicy pancake which is a healthy option for a weekend breakfast. Yellow pumpkin contains antioxidants and vitamins which gives a lot of health benefits to the body.

Ingredients

Yellow pumpkin - 50 grams

Onion - 1

Curry leaves - few

Boiled rice - 1/2 cup

Chana dal - 1/4 cup

Urad dal - 2 tbsps

Red chilies - 3

Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp

Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp

Salt to taste

Method


Remove skin and scrap the pumpkin.

Chop the onions and curry leaves

Soak the rice and dals separately for four to five hours.

Add the soaked rice to the mixer jar and grind coarsely. Then add the dals, red chilies, turmeric and cumin seeds and grind to a smooth batter.

Mix the chopped onions, scraped pumpkin and curry leaves to the batter and adjust salt. 

The batter should be little thicker than the dosa batter.

Heat a tawa and pour a ladle full of batter and spread it evenly.

Sprinkle a teaspoon of oil and cook both the sides till golden.

Serve hot with Onion garlic chutney or powdered jaggery.

Pearl Millet Roti | Bajra Roti | Kambu Roti


Pearl millet is rich in calcium and iron and it has beta carotene to improve our eyesight. We are going to prepare a simple breakfast recipe with pearl millet flour 


Ingredients:

Pearl millet / bajra flour - 1 cup 
Wheat flour - 1/4 
Chili flakes/chili powder - 1/2 to 1 teaspoon 
Grated coconut (optional) - 1/4 cup 
Salt to taste 

Method:

Mix the pearl millet flour with wheat flour and add salt, chili flakes, grated coconut. 

Add little water to make a soft dough like chapati dough.



Take a big lemon sized ball and compress & spread it with your fingers over a plastic sheet. Make your fingers wet to make thin rotis. 


Cook the roti on a hot tawa with little oil or ghee. 

Very healthy and tasty pearl millet / bajra roti ready!

Tomato Chutney | Thakkali Chutney



Ingredients

Onion, big
1
Tomato, medium
2
Garlic
5 cloves
Dried red chilies
3 (as per taste)
Coriander Leaves
½ cup
For seasoning:
Oil
1 tbsp
Mustard seeds
½ tsp
Urad dal
1 tsp
Curry leaves
5-6 leaves
Salt
As per taste


Method:
  • Heat ½ tbsp oil in a pan, add the red chilies and fry for 5 seconds.
  • Add roughly chopped onions, peeled garlic cloves, and salt. Fry for 2 minutes.
  • Add roughly chopped tomatoes and fry for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Finally, add the coriander leaves and cook for a minute.
  • Transfer the mixture into a plate and let it cool.
  • Once the mixture has cooled down, grind it into a fine paste.
  • For seasoning, Heat ½ tbsp of oil in a pan, add the mustard seeds and Urad dal. Allow it to splutter. Then add the curry leaves and fry for 2-3 seconds.
  • Lastly, mix this seasoning with the ground chutney paste.
  • Serve with idly or dosa.

Vivika Recipe | Sweet Idli Recipe




Vivika (Sweet idli) is a traditional recipe made in Tamil nadu. I have tasted vivika made by my mother and grandmother in my childhood but never came across one since. So, I decided to make them myself using the same recipe used by my mother. I have used jaggery in my recipe but we can also make vivika with palm sugar(karuppatti)

Ingredients Required:

Raw white rice - 1 cup
Boiled white Rice - 1/4 cup
Urad Dal - 1 tbsp
Fenugreek seed - 1/2 tsp
Salt - ½ tsp
Powdered jaggery - 200gms/as per taste
Shredded coconut - ½ cup
Cardamom - 3 nos
Dry ginger powder - 1 pinch
Baking soda - ½ tsp
Cashew - 10-15 nos (optional)
Ghee - 

Method:

1.Soak the raw white rice and the boiled white rice in water for 8 hrs.

2.Soak the urad dal and fenugreek in water for 8 hrs.

3.After the ingredients have soaked, drain the water.

4.Put the urad dal and fenugreek into the grinder add some water and grind for around 5 mins.

5.Now, add the soaked rice into the grinder and grind by adding water to form a smooth batter.

6.Grind the cooked rice in a mixer and add this along with the ingredients in the grinder. Grind for about 2 mins. Now, the batter is ready.

7.Mix salt into this batter and let the batter ferment for 8 hrs.

8.Before making idlis, add the baking soda, crushed jaggery, shredded coconut, powdered cardamom, ginger powder and broken cashews to the fermented batter and mix well.

9.Grease the idli mold with oil or ghee and pour the batter into the mold.

10.Steam the idlis in an idli cooker for approximately 8-10 mins.

11.Insert a toothpick or knife into the center of an idli and check if it comes out clean. If not, steam for a few more minutes.

12.Let the idlis cool for 2-3 minutes and then de-mold them with a spoon.

Oats Pepper Chapati | Oats Milagu Chapathi Recipe

Due to its slow-digesting nature, oats make us feel fuller for longer. 
Due to its health benefits, a large number of people have started including oats in their daily diet. 
The below recipe containing oats, low-fat yogurt, pepper, and wheat is a tasty and yet a very healthy one.

Ingredients

Oats - 1/2 cup
Wheat Flour - 1 cup
Pepper powder - 1 teaspoon
Oil - 3 teaspoons
yogurt - 2 tablespoons
Salt to taste

Method

Mix oil with wheat flour and oats.

Add pepper powder, curd, salt, and enough water and make a dough out of it.

Add a little more salt to this dough than the normal chapati dough.

Make chapatis and serve hot with salted yogurt or dal.

Easy Oats Dosa | Instant Dosa Recipe




Ingredients

Wheat Flour - 1 cup
Oats -1 cup
Onion -2
Green chili -3
Urad dal - 1 tbsp
Mustard - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - 10 Nos

Method

Dry grind the Oats and make a coarse powder.

Mix wheat flour and oats. Make a batter out of them with enough water. Keep aside for 15 to 20 minutes.

Chop the onions and green chilies.

Heat oil in a pan, add urad dal and mustard seeds. Allow it to splutter.

Add curry leaves, onion, chilies, and curry leaves. Saute for 3 minutes.

Mix the above mixture into the batter.

Pour a spoonful of batter onto a hot griddle (dosa tawa) and cook both the sides well with little oil.

Serve hot with chutney or sambar

Thuvaram Paruppu Thuvaiyal | Toor Dal Chutney

Ingredients
  • Thuvar Dal - 1/2 cup
  • Red chilies - 5 Nos
  • Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Garlic - 1 clove
  • Curry Leaves (washed) - 10 leaves
  • Tamarind - pea size
  • Salt to Taste
Method 

  • Dry roast toor dal, chilies, and curry leaves one by one and allow it to cool.
  • Add water little by litte and grind it with salt,coconut, and garlic to a coarse paste.
  • Serve with rice, sambar, puli kulambu or "Rasam"
