Easy Sarkarai Pongal (Flavoured Sweet Rice)

This is a famous festival recipe (Pongal Festival) in Tamilnadu.

Ingredients :-

Raw Rice( White rice) - 1 cup

moong dal - 1/4 cup

jaggery - 1 cup

cardamom - 5 Nos

Cashew nut - 25 Nos

kismis - 25 Nos

Grated coconut - 1 table spoon

grated ginger - 1 teaspoon

Ghee - 50 grams

Water - 2 1/2 cups

Method :-

Clean the rice and moong dal. Wash it two times and keep aside.

Take 1 cup of water in a pan. Put the jaggery in it and allow the mixture to boil. After boiling Switch off the stove and filter the mixture.

Put the rice dal mix in a vessel and add 2 1/2 cups of water in it. Place the vessel in the cooker and pressure cook it.

Take the cooked rice, dal mix from the cooker and pour the jaggery mix in it. Add Rosted cashews, kismis, grated coconut, ginger, powderd cardamom and ghee in it. Mix well with a spoon and again pressure cook for ten minutes.

Easy pongal ready.
